Jayantha Dhanpala, a previous guest educator onboard the Peace Boat and partner in Peace Boat’s nuclear weapons disarmament efforts, received the prestigious 2014 Inter Press Service (IPS) International Achievement Award for Nuclear Disarmament. Amb. Jayantha Dhanapala is a former UN Under-Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs, Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US and UN, and Governing Board Member of the Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute (SIPRI).
