SDG Action Weekend and SDG Summit 2023 – Sept 16-19

The UN SDG Action Weekend and SDG Summit 2023 (Sept 16-19) will launch Climate Week NYC and mark the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals leading up to 2030.

Peace Boat US will participate through a side event on September 16.

Climate Week NYC – Sept 17-24

Climate Week NYC (Sept 17-24) is the largest annual climate event in the world, with over 400 events throughout the city. Each year, business leaders, political change makers, local decision makers and civil society representatives gather from all over the world to speed up progress, and champion change that is already happening for climate action.

Peace Boat in NYC: Blue Innovation Reception & Partnership Expo for the SDGs – Sept 30

Peace Boat’’s visit to NYC is especially meaningful as the culmination of an important month of climate-focused events and action, including Climate Week NYC, SDG Action Weekend, and SDG Summit 2023..


Peace Boat Side Event at the SDG Summit 2023: Collaboration and Cross Sector Partnerships for Capacity Development and Youth Engagement on SDG14

This event for the SDG Summit focused on SDG14 and SDG17 will showcase the important role of youth in scaling up ocean action, in particular youth from Small Island Developing States on the front lines of the ocean crisis. Stocktaking successes and challenges, it will also look towards further developments and collaborations for empowerment and engagement of youth with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Global Futures Conference – Critical actions for global Transformational Change

The Global Futures Conference brings together members of public and private sectors, science and academia, Indigenous communities, and youth from around the globe, to actualize bold steps to push the boundaries on how we can act to save our planet. Peace Boat US will participate in a panel titled, “Opening Conversations on Youth Perspectives,” highlighting the work of young people and sustainability initiatives. The panel will feature Peace Boat’s Youth for the SDGs Scholars Rigoberto Amaya from Panama and Kneyone Murray from Trinidad and Tobago, co-sponsored by Blue Planet Alliance. By bringing together diverse perspectives, we aim to establish a foundation for identifying valuable lessons learned from youth who are at the forefront of change and working towards achieving equitable, thriving, and sustainable global futures.

Climate Week NYC Virtual Classroom with The Explorers Club is bringing together an exciting crew of scientists, explorers, researchers and storytellers to take students into the race to protect our planet. Join in all week long to meet with and learn from those on the frontlines of exploring, and searching for solutions to our changing climate. Peace Boat US is excited to announce the launch of a new series of programs as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. We invite youth leaders from around the world who are working toward sustainability in their home communities to enrich their understanding of marine science and climate action on a global scale through capacity building, citizen science programs, network-building, and educational experiences. Join us to learn from our Youth for the SDGs Scholars and hear about their exciting travels onboard the Peace Boat.

Climate Impact Talks 2023 with Blue Planet Alliance, Peace Boat US and Partners

Peace Boat’s new ship, the MV Pacific World will visit New York City for the first time in four years as an immediate follow up to the UN General Assembly High-level Week, including the SDG and Climate Ambition Summits. We are also celebrating Peace Boat’s 40th Anniversary. We are truly excited to welcome you onboard for an event hosting partners working to find innovative solutions to accelerate climate action, share best practices for responsible ocean stewardship, and build momentum for peace, nuclear disarmament, and achieving the SDGs.

Peace Boat will also present the Ecoship, the world’s most environmentally sustainable passenger ship.
