Press Conference Tokyo: CIVIL SOCIETY AND HIBAKUSHA VOICES REGARDING PRESIDENT OBAMA’S VISIT TO HIROSHIMA

The Japan NGO Network for Nuclear Weapons Abolition, a broad coalition of civil society groups, will hold a joint press conference in Tokyo in the leadup to President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Hiroshima (May 24), and a symposium and press event in Hiroshima immediately following the visit (May 27).

These events will share the statements and positions of leading Japanese experts, NGO representatives and atomic bomb survivors themselves regarding the significance of this visit to Hiroshima, and the questions it poses to the Governments of both Japan and the United States.

Note: While both events will be in Japanese, English interpreters will be on standby at each venue. Separate interviews with interpretation can also be arranged with speakers and representatives, including atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, prior to or following each programme – please enquire as below.
