8:15 Hiroshima | From Father to Daughter Film Screening, Talk + Reception

August 3, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+8

Special Film Screening,
Q&A and Reception
with the filmmakers of 8:15 Hiroshima

From Father to Daughter, Peace Boat US and partners, in commemoration of the rememberance days
for those in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

As we approach the 78th Anniversary of the atomic bombings in Japan, we are honored to share our film commemorating those impacted and lost during the war. This project was a labor of love to share Shinji Mikamo’s first person account of the horrors of nuclear war and the power of resiliency, love & forgiveness.

At 8:15 am on August 6, 1945, Shinji Mikamo, a teen in the center of Hiroshima City, was on the roof of his home when the atomic bomb exploded. This hybrid documentary is narrated in English with Japanese subtitles and features never before seen audio and video recordings, evocative reenactments, and archival images — “bringing the past into the present.” (Modern Times Review)
