DESCRIPTION:Peace Boat US is excited to announce its participation in the upcoming high-level 2025 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans\, seas and marine resources for sustainable development\, which will be co-hosted by France and Costa Rica and held in Nice\, France\, from June 9 – 13\, 2025. Peace Boat US looks forward to coordinating and organizing events with government\, United Nations and civil society partners throughout the Conference advocating for the sustainability of our Ocean.\n\nClick here for Peace Boat US activity list\n\nThe overarching theme of the conference is “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.” The conference aims to support further and urgent action to conservation and sustainable use of sea and marine resources for sustainable development and identify further ways and means to support the implementation of SDG 14\, Life Below Water.\n\nIn parallel to the official program\, a limited number of high-level side events may be organized by UN Member States\, UN entities\, International Organizations (IGOs)\, and all accredited stakeholders. Peace Boat US will hosting an array of events during this important week.

SUMMARY:Peace Boat in NYC: “TIME FOR PEACE: For Future Generations” – June 29\,2025
DESCRIPTION:Peace Boat will return to New York City on June 29-30\, 2025. While docked in Manhattan on June 29\, an invitation-only event “Time for Peace: For Future Generations” will be held onboard in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). \nThis event will consider the consequences of past uses of nuclear weapons\, present efforts led by civil society\, diplomats and multilateral organisations to eradicate these threats\, and the future we strive to create together. Several panels will be held including first-hand testimony of nuclear weapons\, as well as perspectives from youth and other experts and artistic contributions to raise awareness about peace. Event participants will be invited to also view the outreach edition of the Nobel Peace Center’s Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition “A Message to Humanity” exhibition currently onboard the Peace Boat’s vessel\, featuring many of the powerful and moving exhibits of Nihon Hidankyo’s work that are on display in Oslo\, including photographs by Magnum photographer Antoine d’Agata. This will be followed by a networking reception also onboard the ship. \nThis event is by invitation only. To attend\, you will have received an invitation and registration code directly from Peace Boat or a partner organization.
