DESCRIPTION:An event organized by Peace Boat and #Youth4Disarmament\, a project of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). \n7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (New York)\nMonday\, December 14 2020 \nSeventy-five years after the atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, the world still faces the grave threat of the existence of nuclear weapons and a nuclear arms race\, despite the 75-year-long plea for their total abolition by hibakusha\, survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, as well as Global Hibakusha – those impacted by nuclear testing\, uranium mining and other nuclear development around the world. \nAs the hibakusha age\, there are fewer opportunities to listen to their first-hand stories are becoming. We\, therefore\, must continue honoring the Hibakusha by celebrating their lives and work. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this musical journey with talented artists from around the world who have all performed aboard the Peace Boat\, sharing their creativity and knowledge as part of our music and art programs. From South America\, we will speak with Chilean music producer and environmentalist Pier Bucci\, who has a legacy of incredible productions and conservation efforts for the Amazon rainforest. We will also experience the “Peace Symphony” of composer and artist Paul D. Miller\, aka DJ Spooky\, who traveled on Peace Boat from Peru to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Tahiti as a guest speaker\, while learning from the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki through their testimonies onboard.\n\n\nLater in the evening\, we will travel to the MAPA studio with Michael Tello from PillowTalk\, who has created a common space for artists and producers to share their musical talent in Brooklyn\, New York. Visually\, we will have the opportunity to learn from Japanese artist\, Satoshi Fujita aka Dragon 76\, who has painted murals worldwide with Peace Boat and continues to dedicate his work to social justice and equality through art.\n\n\nDon’t miss this incredible evening of music and art for social change.We are delighted to bring together this creative group of artists as part of our Global Campaign to support Peace Boat.
