SUMMARY:HUMANITARIAN AID FOR UKRAINE: REPORT FROM PBV TEAM IN ROMANIA – 3/29
DESCRIPTION:It is now one month since the Russian military invasion of Ukraine began on February 24. Already\, more than 3.5 million people (90% of whom are women and children) have had to flee from their homes to other countries as refugees\, and it is estimated that a further 6.5 million people have been displaced within Ukraine. This total of 10 million people represents close to one quarter of Ukraine’s population\, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis is now being faced. \nThe Peace Boat Disaster Relief Centre (PBV) has begun support activities for the affected populations\, working in coordination with our partner in Romania\, the Peace Action\, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) who have been active in humanitarian aid since immediately after the aggression began. \nA team of 3 staff members was dispatched from Japan to Romania on March 19\, and they have been confirming the needs and situation on the ground. In this event\, we will connect live with these staff members and share updates of the challenges faced by refugees\, and consider what support is required from now. \nEvent Overview\nDate: March 29 (Tues)\, 2022\, 8-9pm JST (12-1pm CET)\nVenue: Online (live broadcast via YouTube)\nLanguage: Japanese/English simultaneous interpretation\nCost: Free \nPresenters:\nPBV staff in Romania:\nUESHIMA Yasuhiro (PBV Executive Director)\nSUZUKI Ikuno (International Projects Coordinator)\n* More to be announced\n* Content may change according to local situation \nTo Participate:\nView in English on Youtube here: https://youtu.be/oS8ld6WG5Ec\nTo view in Japanese\, please register to receive the link: https://pbv.or.jp/workshop/20220329_event\nThis event will be archived and made available for viewing after the date also. \nOrganised by: Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV)\nWith cooperation by NGO Peace Boat \nEnquiries:\nEnglish: pbglobal(a)peaceboat.gr.jp\nJapanese: pbv.volunteer(a)pbv.or.jp \nAll for Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund \nEnglish: https://pbv.or.jp/en/news/ukraine-relief_2022mar/\nJapanese: https://pbv.or.jp/donate/2022_ukraine
